Oriental Poppy

Growing Instructions

  • Plant in deep, rich, fertile, very well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.
  • It is especially important that the soil is not water-logged in winter; that spells death to the roots.
  • Space 24-36″ apart. Once planted, do not disturb. The long taproots can easily break.
  • Intolerant of hot, humid conditions; thrives in areas with cool summers.
  • For best effect, plant in groups of no more than three.
  • Foliage dies back soon after plant flowers.
  • Grows 30-36″ tall.
  • Blooms May-June.
  • Hardy in zones 3-7.
